George Balogh | CEO

George Balogh joined SpectraSensors in January 2003 as the Chief Executive Officer. Up until that time, George was Senior Vice President and founder of the Passive Telecom Group at Spectra-Physics, a $30M division of a publicly traded corporation. He brings 23 years of management experience in optical components and instrumentation industries to the company. In his past 13 years at Spectra-Physics, Balogh was responsible for developing and executing the company’s optical component and thin film product strategies. His previous experience spans manufacturing, finance, and engineering management positions, with a track record of accomplishments at Varian Associates, Inc., and Crown Zellerbach. He is also a past President of the Lasers and Electro-Optics Manufacturers Association (LEOMA). Mr. Balogh holds a BS Degree in Industrial Engineering from California Polytechnic State University and an MBA from Golden Gate University.
 
 

Dr. Alfred Feitisch | VP, Analyzer Operations and Engineering

Dr. Feitisch adds over 20 years of experience in senior management, business development, entrepeneurship and expertise in development, design and fabrication of lasers and laser based instruments to Spectrasensor’s management team. Prior to joining Spectrasensors, he served as CEO of Comlase NT AB. He became one of the founders of this Sweden based start up, productizing ultra high power semiconductor laser technology, after a 14 year career in senior management, business development and engineering at Spectra-Physics in Mountain View, California.  At Spectra-Physics, he served as Vice President & General Manager of Spectra-Physics Semiconductor Lasers in Tucson, Arizona (formerly known as Opto Power Corporation), as Vice President & General Manager of Spectra Physics Active Telecom Systems, Business Unit Manager for Ion Laser Plasma Tubes and various engineering, marketing and operations management positions. Dr. Feitisch holds a Ph.D. in Physics and lasers from the University of Hannover, Germany. He started his first company in 1984.
 

Jorge Jones | VP, Sales and Marketing
Jorge Jones 20 years of prior experience includes a diverse blend of general management, sales and marketing, and business development roles in entrepreneurial start up businesses as well as large corporations such as Emerson Co. Jones received an MBA degree from Rice University, Houston Texas in 2005 and a Mechanical Engineering degree from Universidad Nacional, Bogotá, Colombia.
 
 
 
 
 
 

David A. Novak | VP, Applications and Systems Integration

David Novak has been involved in the application and installation of process analyzers since 1974.  His process analyzer system integration experience started at the United Controls Division of Envirotech.  In 1980, he co-founded Pastech and helped develop the company as a key supplier of process analyzer system technology.  Novak established Process Analyzer Consulting (PAC) Services in 1987 to provide specialty engineering for process analyzer applications.  In 1993, he joined Applied Automation, now part of Siemens Energy and Automation, where he managed the development and growth of the company’s system integration and analytical solution capability.
 
David joined SpectraSensors in September, 2007 as the Vice President of Applications and System Integration where he leads the development of complete analytical system solutions for process applications. Novak has a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Harvey Mudd College in Southern California.
 

Bryce L. Ford | VP, Atmospheric Programs

Bryce L. Ford joined SpectraSensors in February 2010 as Vice President of Atmospheric Programs, leading the new SpectraSensors office in the Washington DC metro area.
Bryce brings over 25 years of experience in the global Weather and Environmental community serving in various roles including Program Management, Business Development, Functional Management, and System and Software Engineering. 

Prior to joining SpectraSensors, Bryce served at Lockheed Martin MS2 for 10 years as a Sr. Business Development Manager and Engineering Project Manager for Meteorological and Hydrological programs in domestic and international markets. Prior to this he served for over 16 years at Harris Corporation in various roles supporting U.S. FAA, Defense, and Commercial customers with weather information systems and weather data services. Bryce has served as a Council Member of the international association of the HydroMeteorological Equipment Industry, HMEI, and on the Board of Directors for an international Joint Venture company in Beijing China.  

In 2008 Bryce was invited by the U.S. National Weather Service to serve as a member of the U.S. Government Delegation to the 60th World Meteorological Organization Executive Council. Bryce began his career in 1978 at Boeing Military Airplane Company in Wichita KS, after graduating from Eastern Illinois University with a B.S. in Physics.

Jane F. Garvey | APCO

Jane Garvey, executive vice president and chairman of APCO's transportation practice, provides strategic counsel to APCO clients globally, covering topics from government relations to policy to communications advice.

Ms. Garvey was Head of the Federal Aviation Administration from 1997 to 2002. She was appointed by President Bill Clinton and holds several "firsts" for an FAA Administrator: she was the first Administrator appointed to a 5-year term, the first female Administrator, and the first Administrator who was not a licensed pilot. She had previously worked as a teacher, highway safety administrator, and the director of Logan International Airport.

Besides her role as an Executive Vice President of APCO and a well known public speaker, she holds positions on the Board of Directors for several companies including MITRE Corporation, Flight Safety Foundation, and Advanced Navigation & Positioning Corporation (ANPC).

Garvey earned her B.A. from Mount Saint Mary's College and her M.A. from Mount Holyoke College and has been awarded several honorary degrees.

John Kunhart | American River Ventures

John Kunhart has over 23 years of experience in management, marketing, strategic planning, consulting, software development and IT project management. Before founding American River Ventures (ARV), John Kunhart was an active seed stage investor. As an entrepreneur, John was the co-founder and Sales & Marketing Vice President of Professional Solutions, Inc. (PSI), a multimillion dollar IT consulting and staffing company. He was responsible for the sale of PSI to Arcus and later to Iron Mountain, where he served as director of National Sales. Before founding PSI, John held technical and marketing positions with IBM, Tandem, and Boeing Computer Services.

Nancy C. Floyd | Nth Power

Nancy is Co-Founder and Managing Director of Nth Power. She founded the firm in 1993 with Maurice Gunderson.
 

Ms. Floyd has led Nth Power’s investments in Silicon Energy (Nasdaq: ITRI), Northern Power (Nasdaq: DESC), Smartsynch and Serveron. In addition to these Boards, Ms. Floyd has been an adviser to the National Renewable Energy Lab, Environmental Capital Network, and was, recently, a board member of Sustainable Asset Management in Zurich, Switzerland.

Patrick Edsell | Management Consultant

Pat brings over 20 years of senior executive experience in the optical and micro-electronics manufacturing industries to the company.  His experience includes: Senior Vice President and COO of Avanex a $200M publicly traded telecom equipment company; President and CEO of NP Photonics, a fiber laser start-up; President and CEO of Gigabit Optics Corporation, a telecom start-up; and Chairman, President and CEO of Spectra-Physics, Inc., a $225 million publicly traded laser company.  Pat also held a number of other executive and international positions in related technology companies including CFO of a publicly traded Swedish company.  A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, he also earned an MA in Economics at Ohio State and an MBA in Finance from the University of New Mexico. Pat is credited with successfully leading global companies in market expansion, operational integration, market-based product development, company acquisitions and profitable growth.
